The Sooke Youth Council is a group of young people 13-21, facilitating new opportunities for youth to be leaders in grassroots community action and regional decision-making in Sooke.
Mission: Improving the perception and outlook of Sooke through youth engagement in positive progress. Objectives: To initiate and organize a host of new events and initiatives, such as concerts and monthly film nights.
The 15th annual Trevor Purdy 3-on-3 Tournament was a huge success! We had six teams playing tirelessly in an all-day competition, showcasing their skills and dedication. In the end, it was the white team that brought home the trophy. Congrats to Quinn, Cody, Rob, Brent, and Andrew on their victory!
The Sooke Youth Council has evolved! We're now called the EMCS Society Youth Engagement Team, and we have lots of awesome events going on this summer! If you're interested in hiking, the arts, basketball, or just getting involved in your community, keep an eye out for awesome opportunities to have some fun.

We would like to thank the following SYC members Elise Ristow (Germany), Daniel Mendez (Mexico), and Jesse Zhang (China), who were international students at Edward Milne Community School 2013/2014 school year and they have all contributed a lot throughout the school year! We're sad to see you go.

Sorry for the last minute notice. Our last movie night of the school year set for June 12th has been cancelled. Due to the rotating strikes the students awards night has had to be rescheduled and unfortunately there was no other alternative. Again, apologies for the last night cancellation to those that were looking forward to it. We'll keep you posted for the next one though!
We had a community BBQ on Sunday outside of TD bank in Sooke, had a great turn out on a beatiful day, and had a ton of interaction with our Gorilla Blackboard! A couple photos of the action below.
