Well the Sooke Youth Council has some upcoming events that I am particularly excited about! :)
We've got another movie night coming up, but the date has not yet been confirmed.
Thanks to everyone who came out to our double feature this past Wednesday!
Anyways, on to what I'm really excited about...
Due to the job action affecting all of the teachers and many of the supporting staff there have been no dances at Edward Milne Community School, something that many students (especially grads) have been dissapointed about.
4 months ago a baby girl was born, named Maysa. Unfortunately shortly after she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and it became obvious that her life would be an up-hill battle.
What do these two things have in common you ask?
Well, hopefully we can positively change two things, with one AWESOME event... Cirque du danser !
The SYC is in the works of organizing a community dance at EMCS, open to youth in grades 8 - 12, with an incredibly awesome theme of circus, and all profits made will hopefully be donated to Maysa's family!
